What will world cup outreach look like?
This summer, FIFA World Cup is coming to Asia for the first time ever. Thirty-two teams will participate and over 800,000 spectators from all over the world are expected to come and support them—people of all nationalities, ethnicities, backgrounds, languages, and religions will gather for this event.

This is going to be a truly amazing summer in Asia. In Korea alone, three hundred fifty thousand people from all over the world are expected to visit, 25 percent from countries where the gospel is technically forbidden by law, and 100,000 from China alone. But for 3 weeks, we can freely speak the name of Jesus Christ to any and all.

We are praying to raise 600 evangelists to come to Korea and Japan to evangelize to the nations that will gather here for the games. The evangelists will arrive in Seoul for a four-day training conference and then break up into teams stationed in each of the 20 World Cup stadium cities across Korea and Japan. We invite Christians from varying denominations and backgrounds to unite for the common goal of sowing Gospel seeds among the nations.

How Can I Get Involved?
a.. Churches, Parachurch Organizations, and Schools: We invite you to either send a team and/or serve as a leading partner in your city for all outreach participants. Our vision is to assemble most teams under the leadership of local churches. Responsibilities include spiritual oversight, prayer coverage, support with financial and travel logistics, and administration of pre-event evangelism training. The deadline for confirming intent to send a team or serve as lead partner is Tuesday, April 30. Please email worldcupoutreach@hotmail.com to request a church packet with more details.
(Note: Obviously the sooner the better, but this does not mean that the team must be assembled and ready to go by then; simply that you confirm your intent to send a team.)

b.. Individuals: We invite you to apply directly to World Cup Outreach via the web at worldcupoutreach.com (posted March 5). Responsibilities include being in Korea/Japan from May 26 to June 17, raising financial and prayer support, and submitting to the authority of a local church designated as a leading partner in the city nearest you. The deadline for submitting applications is also Tuesday, April 30th. (Note: Estimated cost per person is airfare, plus USD 400 to 600.)
